Paying Attention: 7 Ways to Center
As a psychic adviser, one of the most important things we do is center ourselves so that we are open to hearing messages from our guides, intuition, and energies. Once centered, you must PAY ATTENTION. When you pay attention to the energies, messages, and help of the Universe, you will find that life is much easier and filled with so much more joy.
Here are 7 tips on ways to start centering yourself:
1. Don’t Fight the Flow
Imagine you are swimming upstream in a river: You are out of breath, working too hard, and are getting nowhere. Listen to your intuition and stop fighting. Let go and go with the flow.
Meditating doesn’t come easy for everyone, but with practice anyone can achieve it. Start out by attempting to quiet your mind for 5 minutes a day, then 8 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes and so on. Your mind will wander and that’s okay. It often helps to focus on the sound of a chime or to focus on your breathing. Everyone is different; find what works for you.
3) Drink Water
This may sound bizarre, but it’s true. You can much easier relax and connect with your higher self by keeping yourself hydrated.
4) Create Your Space
Find a space in your home, outside, or wherever you feel most comfortable. Add items that make you feel good. I recommend burning candles, adding crystals, and burning incense. Other ideas could be pillows, stuffed animals, water fountains, pictures of loved ones—whatever resonates with you. This is YOUR space. You should feel comfortable, safe, and secure.
This may seem repetitive, but from a very basic biological level, your cells respond to every single thought you have. Exercising helps you release hormones (endorphins) that allow you think more positive thoughts. That doesn’t mean to have to go out and become a bodybuilder or kill yourself in the gym everyday; just get out and take a walk or do some jumping jacks during commercials.
6) Do Something That Makes You Feel Good
Have you ever been in a rut where no matter what you do, you just feel like the world is against you? Statistically, you’re not alone. At one point or another in our lives, most people have been in the space. Unfortunately, this level of energy blocks us from hearing the Universe’s messages. To shift out of this, think of a time that last make you happy, or something that you have been wanting to do. You don’t have the physically do it (but it’s even better if you do!) but the mere act of THINKING about something that makes you feel better will help you shift out of your catabolic energy and into anabolic energy.
7) Bring Yourself into the NOW
This is perhaps an “easier” version of meditating. Rather than trying to clear your mind of all thought, simply remove thoughts about the past and the future, and only focus on what’s happening right NOW. Tune into all the things you feel, see, hear, smell; focus on the people around you. Appreciate and connect with the now moment. If you’re stressed about the future, ask yourself, “In THIS moment, what’s really wrong? Am I okay right now?” A great book to begin bringing yourself into the NOW is The Power of Now by Ekhart Tolle.
